Gyurjyan Wines began as a return to our roots.
Wine has always been part of our family history. Our grandfather crafted wine using traditional methods, fermenting it in clay vessels passed down through generations. Years later, one of these ancient amphorae became the starting point of our own journey.
In 2020, we began working with indigenous Armenian grape varieties from two remarkable wine regions: the Ararat Valley and Vayots Dzor. What began as a personal desire to reconnect with our heritage gradually evolved into Gyurjyan Wines, a small family winery dedicated to natural and traditional winemaking.
Today, we cultivate and vinify Voskehat, Nerkarat, Tchilar, Khach Kharji and Mskhali. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in clay vessels known as Karas in Armenia and Qvevri in Georgia.
Our wines ferment naturally with native yeasts, without commercial additives or preservatives. We follow a minimal-intervention philosophy with extended skin contact, no filtration and ageing in amphorae, allowing each grape variety, vineyard and vintage to express its authentic character.
Today, Gyurjyan Wines continues to grow while remaining true to the vision that inspired its creation: to craft authentic wines that connect Armenian terroir, family heritage and ancient winemaking traditions.
From an inherited amphora to a new generation of Armenian wine.
